Mrs. McMahon was born in Manhattan and moved to Staten Island in 1953. She worked as a proof reader for the Staten Island Advance from 1979 to 1984. From 1984 to 2004 she worked as a librarian for St. Anselm's School in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. In her leisure time she enjoyed reading, playing bingo and trips to Atlantic City. Mrs. McMahon's husband, Jerome, died in 1996.
